1UP USA has redesigned their upright hitch rack, the Recon, with a lighter version that’s also easier to repair.
The new Recon eliminated welds entirely in favor of a fully bolt-together design. Now every part is serviceable, swappable, and repairable, so you won’t have to replace the whole thing should something break.
They also dropped 15% of the weight by switching to aluminum baskets, lower wheel cradles, and side plates. They say it’s just as tough, just lots lighter. The redesigned baskets are now fit a wide range of bikes, from fat tire MTBs to skinny road bikes to kids bikes, without the need for adapters or extra baskets.
This new version also gets a new wedge-style hitch that snugs into the hitch receiver and expands for rock-solid stability.
Lastly, they’ve added a new 4-bike size, giving them 4-, 5-, and 6-bike options. Prices are:
- 4-bike: $1,100
- 5-bike: $1,300
- 6-bike: $1,500
As a bonus, the you can also attache 1UP’s APS (Accessory Panel System) Side Panel directly to the Recon’s pillar, letting you mount tools, gas, water, and other essentials right to the rack — ideal for trail builders and overlanders.
1UP USA Moto Rack
The new Moto Rack ($1,719) is a beast, fitting 2″ and 2.5″ receivers and carrying up to 500 pounds…or 300lbs on an RV.
Dual wheel cradles pair with an adjustable front wheel chock fit 18″ to 30″ tires up to 7″ wide, and bikes with a wheelbase from 45″ to 65″.
Front and rear straps that make sure your motorcycle is completely secure, and an integrated slide-out ramp helps you get your bike onto the rack. Integrated wheels make it easy to roll in and out of your garage when it’s not needed on the vehicle.
An optional Peg Stand ($179) mounts in the center and lets you cinch the straps down to rest the bike’s lower skid plate on it…perfect for adventure bikes and motocross whips that have a lower skid or frame that can bear the weight of the bike.
There’s also an optional LED light kit ($249) to add tail and brake lights to the rack, and you can add on one of their single bike trays for bringing a bicycle along, too…except on RVs.
Like all 1UP USA racks, it’s lightweight for the category (120lbs) thanks to an alloy tray and body, but with a steel hitch bar for strength. We got a look at it at Overland Expo West in this video if you want to see it in motion.
