2025 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek is a legit “soft-roading” SUV

The current Nissan Rogue is arguably one of the best looking compact SUVs on the market, and the new Rock Creek trim level is a very nice starting point for mild overlanding adventures.

The Rock Creek trim is more than just aesthetics, with three particularly good upgrades over the other options – a tubular roof rack, serious all-terrain tires, and downhill assist control.

Key exterior differences from the road-going Rogue models are:

  • Unique front fascia and grille gives it a more aggressive front-end design
  • Tubular roof rack adds cargo-carrying capability and a more rugged look
  • Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires
  • Exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels with a “Beadlock style”
  • Rock Creek badging and orange accents

But there’s more…

Is the Rogue Rock Creek off-road worthy?

The Rock Creek trim gets several features that are different from other trims. Specifically:

  • Standard all-wheel drive (AWD)
  • Hill descent control (HDC)
  • Off-road camera view shows the terrain ahead, aiding in off-road maneuvers

The Falken Wild Peak 235/65R17 tires have a 29.03″ diameter, which is the same as the SV (base) trim level, so there’s no extra ground clearance, just better grip and durability.

Car & Driver reports that the shocks are lightly retuned for better offroad performance, and that the off-road traction mode does more to mute the VSC and Traction Control here than on other trims.

The Rogue Rock Creek is Nissan’s first North American vehicle to get the “invisible hood” feature found on their premium Infiniti models. It works at speeds up to 12mph to give you a better view of what’s immediately under the front of the car just in front of your bumper and tires.

It also comes standard with their “all-around” vehicle view for easier parking and reversing. And the Technology Package adds wide-angle front cameras for seeing around thinks like trees (and parking deck pillars).

Inside are moisture-repellant seats with a more durable, easy-to-clean upholstery. Orange contrast stitching adds a touch of style. There’s also a 12-volt cargo power outlet for powering accessories like small coolers.

Upgrade potential

The Rogue Rock Creek is built on the 3rd generation Rogue platform, which debuted in mid-2020. It’ll likely sell well based on looks alone, but it’s nice to know they’ve had a few years to work out any issues, and for aftermarket brands to develop accessories.

That said, the suspension lift kits for the 3rd gen Rogue are all claimed as compatible with 2021-2023 models. The suspension hasn’t changed for the 2024/25 models, but we were unable to confirm with any of the aftermarket brands whether their kits will fit. Assumption is yes, but you should definitely confirm before installing.

The tubular roof rack makes it easier to add proper gear racks, roof top tents, and other stuff to it as it’ll be stronger than standard factory cross bars.

The two OE accessories of interest are an $84 seatback organizer and $450 Hatch Tent that sleeps 3-4 people and warps over the open rear hatch of the vehicle.

Performance Specs & Pricing

The Rock Creek is powered by a 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo paired to their Xtronic CVT. It comes standard with AWD (other trim levels start as FWD), and is rated for 30/37 MPG (city/hwy), however those heaver tires and taller roof rack may have something to say about that.

2025 models get updated & improved ProPilot features for limited hands-free driving. Vehicles start at $35,420.
