Yakima’s sole RTT option thus far has been the soft-shell SkyRise, but now they’re adding a hardshell SkyPeak HD rooftop tent that can carry your bikes, kayaks, and other gear on top.
Here’s the video run through, with pics and details below:
2025 Yakima SkyPeak & SkyRise rooftop tents
With T-Track slots around the perimeter, you can mount the ladder to either side or the rear, as well as hang awnings, showers, and other accessories from it.

Mount Yakima’s cross bars to the top and you can attach bike trays, kayak or SUP mounts, ski & snowboard racks, storage boxes, etc. The gas struts help you lift the top even when it’s loaded, and a locking support keeps it up without having to remove the gear from the top.

The front end folds outward to create more head space, and an optional awning can stick out over the back.

The soft shell SkyRise stays in the line but now comes standard with an integrated awning over the entry, letting you get in and out in any weather…and keeping the ladder dry!
It keeps all the top and side windows for massive visibility and air flow, and it folds in half to take up less space on your roof rack while still sleeping 2-3 adults depending on size.
2025 Yakima OverNOut vehicle awnings

Their Major Shady and Slim Shady awnings get a refresh and rebrand. The new OverNOut 270 XL adding a center panel for longer side coverage from the same size base.
The awning now stretches over the front door, giving you a lot more shade and living/working area without needing a larger mounting point on your roof rack. That means it works even with truck bed racks that stop at the back of the cab. It’ll be $999 and come in left- and right-side options.

The smaller OverNOut 180 loses the rear wrap-around portion to cover only the side of your vehicle, but also has the center panel for a bigger coverage area.
Wall kits are available separately for both to enclose your living area, and both have pop-up center poles to help rain run toward the outside and swing-down legs for better stability in the wind. MSRP is $799.
They’ll still have the tiny scroll-style awnings for CUVs and wagons, now called OverNOut MD and SM.
All of this means that current SkyRise rooftop tents and Shady awnings are on major sale right now, giving you a great deal if you don’t need the new features or sizes…or you just can’t wait until Spring 2025.
