The ARB Altitude Rooftop Tent is a beast, with a more robust construction than almost any tent we’ve seen, and a fully automated setup and breakdown through dual electronic actuators and a scissor-lift mechanism.
Just unlock the sides and you can deploy or pack the tent with a single button press in 75 seconds.
The tent features ARB’s SmartFold hinge technology for streamlined packing, with heavy-duty 380GSM poly-cotton canvas walls that fold into the fiberglass shell without manual wrestling.
The shell itself is curved for both aerodynamics and aesthetics, and it’s a very thick (up to an inch!) fiberglass honeycomb construction on an aluminum frame for maximum structural durability.

Measurements and interior features include:
- Sleeping area – 73.6″ x 53.9″
- Headroom – 46.5″
- 2.7″ dual-density foam mattress
- External dimensions (open) – 88.7″ x 63.5″ x 52.7″
- Dual-color interior & exterior lighting
You can even stash 44 pounds of gear on top of it and still maintain electronic-opening/closing functionality.

The tent mounts via universal folded brackets compatible with ARB BASE Rack systems or “standard” (meaning, standard aftermarket stronger) crossbars. A fixed aluminum ladder mounting bar is on either side, and the ladder itself stows into a hatch on the tent when closed…so you don’t need to find a spot for it inside the vehicle.

The only downsides are the weight and the cost, and you’ll have to run 12V power to it, either through a hardwired vehicle connection or a 12V Anderson plug.
At 233.7 pounds total weight, it’s meant for bigger, stronger vehicles and roof racks. ARB has specific mounting kits for some Land Cruisers and others, and say it works well on bed racks on full-size trucks, too. It’s also tall, with a 14.6″ packed height. And at $5,999.95, it’s meant for bigger budgets.
