Coastal Offroad Gen2 high-clearance rear bumper for Tundra

coastal offroad high clearance rear bumper for 2nd gen toyota tundra.

Coastal Offroad’s new Toyota Tundra high-clearance rear bumper has about as good of a departure angle you can get. The minimalist design belies a full feature set, though, with deep mounting brackets that use multiple points on the truck’s frame. There’s even high-clearance tie-down points for truck bed camper inserts!

Recovery points are directly behind those mounts, and you can add an integrated hitch receiver that sits much higher than the factory bolt-on hitch, giving you more accessory options and more ground clearance. Available as a DIY or fully assembled, MSRP from $849.

ArcPit portable fire pit fits over your spare tire

ArcPit portable camp fire pit that fits over a spare tire on the back of your overland vehicle.

As long as you have time to let it cool before leaving camp, this is brilliant. The ArcPit cradles over your spare tire during transit, then just lifts off and flips over to create an instant fire pit.

Available in two sizes to fit various spare tire sizes ($285-$330), it’s made of 3mm thick food-grade stainless steel, so you can throw a grate over it and use it to cook, too.

Elevate Metalcraft Pillar Grab Handle MOLLE panels

molle panel kit for a-pillar grab handles.

Just when you thought you had MOLLE panels everywhere possible, this happens. Elevate Metalcraft’s A-Pillar Grab Handle MOLLE panels give you a convenient spot for…. something. Walkie Talkie? Switch Panel? Lip Balm? MSRP from $48 per side, available for 2010-2024 Toyota 4Runners, and Lexus GX470/GX460. Also available for rear door grab handles.

Forget wood or other hard surfaces, the new AVCRIG Felt Wall Kit for Ford Transits gives you soft wall panels that feel great, help insulate, and keep the cabin much quieter by absorbing sound!

They’re also much lighter than wood, keeping your GVWR in check. They offer kits that mount directly to your van’s frame, or to their own interior frame kit, and they come in 20 colors!

Hitchfire Refillable 1-lb Propane Tank Kit

hitchfire travel refillable 1-pound propane cylinder kit for camp stove propane tanks.

Hitchfire’s new Travel Refill Kit lets you fill two of their 1-lb cylinders from any standard 20-lb propane tank, letting you top off from your home grill before heading out to camp. The kit comes with two refillable 1-lb cylinders, the stand, and a carrying case with padded inserts. MSRP is $149, on introductory sale now for $110.

Uncharted Supply Co’s Rapid Raft “inflates” in seconds

uncharted supply co rapid raft portable, inflatable pack raft for emergencies and hiking.

Using a wide-mouth opening that you swoop around to capture air, then roll to close and create pressure, the new Uncharted Supply Co. Rapid Raft can be ready to use in just seconds.

It also deflates and rolls up ultra-compact, making it easier than ever to hike or bike with, helping you get to more remote bodies of water. Or, just keep it on hand for the next flood, which seems like it could happen anywhere these days. MSRP $539.

Big Deals

So many deals this month, from ongoing Easter sales to Earth Day sales, and even a few early Mother’s Day deals. Here’s the best gear sales we found:

Wandering Thoughts

Phew! It’s Thursday evening, and I just got to the MOORE Expo campground, did a quick lap, and set up camp in my van to write this newsletter.

The two-day trip wasn’t too bad, I stopped and visited a few friends along the way, and have some cool adventures planned for the return trip to put these new Nokian Tyres Outpost nAT’s to the test. I literally got them on my van on Monday, so they’re super fresh.

There are a lot of killer rigs in the camping area, I posted a quick recap on our Instagram channel if you wanna see them.

This will be my first non-Overland Expo, um, (lowercase) overland expo. Should be interesting, there are a lot of great brands on the exhibitor list. If there’s a particular category of thing or vehicle you want to see, hit reply and lemme know. Or DM us on Instagram.

Thanks, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel, I’ll be posting videos from the expo along with photo stories on the site.

Cheers,

About Tyler Benedict 316 Articles
I'm a serial traveller who's crisscrossed the US more times than I can count. Current rigs are a '19 Vandoit Ford Transit camper van and an '05 GX470, both fully outfitted for off-road adventures, plus a healthy fleet of gravel bikes & MTBs. On two wheels or four, I love exploring the world from the backroads.
