eBay just made buying a car less shady w/ Caramel app

Trust me when I say I wish I knew about Caramel before buying my first GX470. The app provides a complete digital platform for buying and selling a car, and makes it easy and *gasp* enjoyable.

Sure, it can help you get financing, insurance, and even arrange delivery of your vehicle from any private seller. But the biggest benefits are the time, headaches and uncertainty it saves, because it:

  • Verifies the buyer’s and seller’s identities
  • Checks the vehicle’s accident and ownership history
  • Handles all the paperwork, including DMV & title transfer stuff
  • They hold the money in escrow until the vehicle and the title are delivered

Plus, it’s free to use, and soon it’ll integrate into eBay’s auction platform to make it even easier to buy a car there, too.

When, exactly? Likely first quarter 2025. eBay has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Caramel as of January 11, 2025, they just need to go through the rigamarole of closing that deal. If only there were a Caramel app for that

In the meantime, the app is in (and will remain in) the app stores, so you can try it for your next purchase, whether it’s on eBay or not.
