Dobinson’s new 8″ IFS Long Travel Coilovers bring their MRR shocks to Toyotas, offering a plug-in-play solution for vehicles already modified to have longer front suspension travel.
Designed for Toyota’s independent front suspension (IFS) platform, these coilovers include the necessary mounting hardware and adapters. But, they’re intended to go on trucks that already have long travel-ready upper and lower control arms, CV axles, and high-clearance steering hardware.
The shock itself is a single part number, but can be ordered in multiple bolt patterns to fit:
- Tacoma (1st gen & newer, includes newer Hilux)
- 4Runner (3rd gen & newer, includes newer Prado)
- FJ Cruiser (all)
Presumably this includes the Lexus GX series, too, but we’ve reached out to confirm.
Built on their MRR (Monotube Remote Reservoir) design, these have a big 2.6″ (66mm) diameter steel body with 3mm thick tube walls. Inside is their larger 60mm high-flow piston with hardened steel shaft.
That’s larger than the Universal Long Travel kits they introduced in late 2024. Those have more fit kits to fit more vehicles and brands, but use a slightly smaller 2.5″ diameter shock body. And, these new Toyota-specific models have a black finish, not chrome.
Their MRR shocks come with three external adjustments:
- High speed compression (10 clicks)
- Low speed compression (20 clicks)
- Rebound (15 clicks)
Combined, they let you fine tune the performance however you need it to handle both terrain and body roll. And a threaded spring perch lets you adjust ride height and lift.

MSRP is $1,790/pair for the shocks only, coil springs sold separately. They mate with 16″ long springs with a 3″ internal diameter, and Dobinson offers 550lb/in, 600lb/in, and 650lb/in spring rates.
