Dometic has redesigned their hard- and soft-sided coolers to better nest alongside and stack on top of each other, saving space inside your rig. But that’s not all…they’re also packed with clever features that make them more useful, too.
With straight, flat sides on all sizes and versions, the Recon series coolers sit flush against each other so you’re not wasting any space inside your rig.
Even the handles, clasps and tie-down straps sit flush on the sides, so there’s nothing protruding to keep them apart.
Flexible carry straps can loop into the sides for easier transport, and the lids open from either side or remove completely for easier access. All in all, it’s a well-designed system that also looks very easy to use.
The lids have a slight recess with non-slip TPU coating, and the various sizes are designed to stack into the largest option’s footprint, so there’s no wasted space (or overhang) if you go vertical.
The coolers claim to keep food and drink cold for up to 8 days, with up to 2″ of insulation on the hard-sided models. Those are injection-molded and welded for strength, claiming to be up to 30% lighter than rotomolded coolers.
An insulated drain plug attaches inside via a magnet, and non-skid feet keep the cooler from sliding around inside your vehicle (or on a boat, etc.). Sizes include 16L Small, 41L Medium, and 69L Large.
You can even attach Dometic’s electric faucet to the 16L lid and use it as an ice-water cooler in leiu of those round 5-gallon jugs.
The soft-sided Recon coolers have a zipper-free lid with dual hinge latches that also open from either side with a single hand.
It has 25mm of FROST CORE insulation holds the cold to keep it cold (and prevent it from condensating), with an abrasion resistant GRS Recycled 840D nylon TPU coating on the outside and 600D Poly TPU liner inside.
A reinforced outer solid base keeps its shape, and D-rings tie-downs, shoulder strap, and M.O.L.L.E. loops for accessories round out the features. Sizes include 12L Small, 17L Medium, and 21L Large.
