Hella’s new Blade round lights and X-Treme cube lights up the ante for output for single lights, putting out up to 13,200 lumens each!
Both are available in clear and amber, and both have dual-color, switchable backlighting, too. Here’s what you need to know…
Hella Blade 6″ & 9″ HP round lights
The new 9″ Blade light puts out a massive 13,200 lumens from six LEDs. It joins the prior 6″ unit (8,500 lumens), giving you a bigger, brighter option.
Both sizes use a tough die-cast aluminum housing with stainless steel bracket, and they work with power systems from 10V to 24V. Color temperature is a daytime-like 6000K.
They’re fully sealed against water and dust, and even have ECE-R10 rated electromagnetic interference protection so they won’t scramble your other accessories (important if they’re near your comms antenna).
The Blade 9″ retails for $779.99 for a pair (that’s 26,400 raw lumens) and includes an extra-long wiring kit. The included covers have translucent sections so the backlighting shows through, letting you use them for position/marker lights at any time.
Hella X-Treme cube lights
Available in 3.6″ and 4.3″ sizes, the new X-Treme cube lights come in pairs and put out 5,300 and 7,100 lumens, respectively, using a new “X” position light design. The larger 4.3″ size includes additional lighting on the sides, giving you lateral lighting, too.
Available in clear and amber, you can get amber lens covers for the clear ones, making those a better option if you don’t mind popping them on and off as conditions warrant.
The Amber lights come with Spot beam patterns only. For White lighting, you can choose from three different light patterns – combo, flood, and spot.
Note the different lens elements directly over the LED…that’s what differs to change the light pattern.
What’s interesting is how Hella splits the difference between a true TIR design, where the LED sits directly on a lens element, and a standard off-road light where the LED is uncovered.
This hybrid approach of putting a building a front lens element into the entire reflector lets them better control the light pattern and reduce uncontrolled light wash.
They have a slightly warmer 5700K color temperature (arguably a little better on the eyes). Housing is aluminum with stainless steel bracket, also IP67/IP69K water/dust-proof.
They also have the dual accent lighting, letting you switch between white and amber. MSRP from $310.96 to $394.16 per pair, depending on size.
