The new iKamper Skycamp 4.0 series, the fourth generation of the company’s flagship rooftop tent line, adds a new three-person “Trio” size alongside Duo and Quad configurations. And all three get redesigned geometry that increases interior space while maintaining the same external footprint as previous models.

The Skycamp 4.0 incorporates several material and structural updates, too. A Duracore fiber-reinforced plastic shell designed improves UV and temperature resistance.

BreathWeave polycotton canvas has better airflow to reduce condensation buildup. And a ThermaSeal floor system combines lightweight honeycomb aluminum with a cork insulation layer for temperature control and sound dampening.

Interior modifications include increased headroom, larger windows, and an expanded skylight. A wider entrance improves access and ventilation, and they now have built-in LED lighting and integrated passthroughs for climate control and power systems.

Built for four-season use, the Skycamp series offers both lightweight foam and (slightly heavier) self-inflating air mattress options. The air mattress adds 3-6 pounds to the overall weight, but is almost certainly more comfortable.

The Skycamp’s clamshell design offers the compact footprint typically found in softshells, but with a much more convenient (and quicker to setup) hardshell design. Simply open the top, then fold the floor panel open to double its footprint for a proper sleeping area.
Skycamp 4.0 Dimensions & Weights

Compared to the Skycamp 3.0, the new 4.0 is just a bit bigger, mainly offering wider sleeping areas, and also about 20-23 pounds heavier. The extra weight likely comes from the larger footprint, plus the addition of a cork floorboard layer and interior lights, both features that weren’t included on the standard 3.0 models.
