The new James Baroud Nova is their first rooftop tent with a completely flat top, and it comes with integrated cross bars, making it easier than ever to add solar panels, storage, and other gear.
Even better, there are integrated T-track slots running fore/aft, letting you attached gear directly to the shell for an even lower profile stack. It’ll hold up to 110 pounds (55kg) on top, even when open.
The Nova is relatively lightweight for the category, weighing just 151 pounds (68.5kg), and slim at just 9.5″ tall when closed. Its aerodynamic shaping is sleeker than most, too, with a rounded leading edge.
It lacks the hinged opening that lifts the front edge for more foot room, but at 87″ long, there’s plenty of interior length to stretch out…and even stuff some extra clothing at the foot of the bed.
It’s 55″ wide inside, plenty of space for two adults, and headroom is 54″ at the peak. Remove the tent fabric and you’ve got unobstructed 180º of view.
It comes with a 2.5″ thick high density foam mattress, ceiling storage pockets, and two hanging pockets. Optional shoe pouches, LED lighting kits, and folding chair backs are available separately.
The shell is Italian-sourced ABS plastic with a UV coating, and the tent fabric is aluminized to reflect heat and remain breathable. All-weather zippers are hidden behind flaps for a sleeker look and to prevent drafts.
Like all of their tents, it’s made in Portugal and is their own design. MSRP is $2,650, available in Graphite or White.
