Jeep tests Awning + Rooftop Tent Concept Vehicle… with dinosaurs?

This Jeep ARTT (Awning + Roof Top Tent) concept vehicle debuted at Overland Expo West, a conversion that could be available through their Mopar catalog of officially certified modifications and parts.

Designed specifically for four-door Wrangler models, it was shown on a Jeep 4xe model. Developed through a partnership with Dometic and created via Stellantis’ internal Star*Up program, the goal was to solve several key problems with most rooftop tents and awnings, namely weight and aerodynamics.

To solve for weight, it uses a carbon-fiber shell that mounts directly to the Wrangler’s roof without requiring a separate rack system. Lighter tent body, no extra rack weight. That means it also sits lower, and the 270-degree awning is integrated into it for a single aerodynamic package.

Even better, you can access the tent from inside the vehicle when the Wrangler’s freedom panels are removed, with an integrated carbon-fiber step to protect the center console during entry.

The tent features Dometic’s AIR Frame Inflation technology for quick setup and accommodates a queen-size mattress.

The system was displayed on the Wrangler 4xe Sunchaser concept vehicle, which previously debuted at the 2025 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. This show truck features a solar flash and satin black exterior with functional modifications including a 2-inch lift, 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires, Warn winch, and various storage solutions designed for extended overlanding trips.

While currently in concept phase, the ARTT system represents Jeep’s continued focus on purpose-built accessories for the overlanding community. The lightweight carbon-fiber construction and direct-mount design could potentially offer improved aerodynamics and weight distribution compared to traditional rooftop tent setups, though production timeline and pricing remain unannounced.

About those dinosaurs…

Jurassic Park Rebirth hits theaters July 2, and the Jeep Wrangler will celebrate with a “Jurassic Trail Rated” promo including limited edition badges for the vehicle…start asking your dealer now if you want one.

In a since-removed teaser on YouTube, you could spot a prototype Jeep 4×4 model parked inside the dino lab.

No word on how Jeeps will be used in the movie itself, but the pics are nice.
