Storyteller had been dreaming up a reverse Cannonball Run, heading from the PNW all the way down to Key West. And then Hurricane Helene hit and decimated some of the towns along the route, displacing lots of people (and several of their van owners).
So, they’re turning it into a fundraiser, hoping to raise 1ยข per mile (or more) from anyone interested in donating. And if you want to join them on the route, or just follow along on social, that’s great, too!

The trip starts October 30th and runs 4,866 miles from the Olympic Peninsula through spots like Death Valley, Utah’s National Parks, and the highest pass they can reach in the Rockies before crossing the country. They’ll dip through Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia before splitting Florida to reach Key West.
The route avoids areas most damaged by the storm, likely so they don’t add to the load those areas are already seeing. Instead, they’re asking for us all to donate a penny per mile of the trip ($48.66) to their Run for Relief campaign with the American Red Cross to help recovery and relief efforts.
