New ARB Brushless Air Compressors inflate 50% faster!

SEMA 2024 – The new ARB Brushless Air Compressors get faster, smoother brushless motors for faster tire inflation and better power & heat management.

Brushed electric motors, which are found on all current air compressors, are about 80% efficient, dragged down by the brushes inside (which also create noise) that make the physical connection with the electronics controlling them.

Brushless motors use a fully electronic connection, which is also more durable, and run cooler. They also produce less EMF “noise”, so they’re less likely to interfere with your comms.

ARB’s new brushless compressors have fine mesh air screens on the intakes and come in Single and Twin models, depending on how much room you have for an onboard compressor.

Both have voltage and overload protection, and active cooling so you can run them longer and harder. They also have audible and visual alerts at the switch, so no matter where you tuck the compressors, the switch is able to keep you updated on its performance.

The Dual Compressor also has Smart Start Up, ramping up power to the compressor gradually to avoid spikes that could damage your system. And if it detects low power or engine stalls, it can shut down one of the motors to help protect your electrical system.

The Single model draws up to 45A under load and moves up to 4.59cu.ft./minute. The Dual model draws up to 90A and moves up to 9.18cu.ft./minute.

Technically, that’s 50% more air movement than their brushed motor versions, so actual tire inflation may not be 50% faster, but it’ll definitely be quicker… and a little quieter.

Do they work with Air Lockers? Other accessories?

Yes, and yes.

The onboard compressors have multiple outputs, allowing you to connect both front and rear air lockers and still have an outlet for inflating your tires. (outlets are the ports plugged by red plastic and covered by that silver bolt)

Do they make portable brushless air compressors?

Also yes. In single and twin versions, too, and they come with a unique new feature:

A polarity-neutral battery cable lets you clamp either gator clip to either terminal and the inline adapter automatically corrects for positive and negative to send them to the right place. Just connect and inflate.

Pricing is TBA, they should be available later this year.
