SEMA 2024 – Finally giving their Reconn Deck Bars a proper home, the new Rhino Rack Reconn Platform roof rack combines a low-profile design with integrated front fairing.
It’s made of powder coated aluminum with a two-tone gloss-over-satin black design on the side rails. The side rails have a thinner, lighter base with reinforced upper section where the cross bars mount.
The whole thing bolts directly to your vehicle, no drilling or other mods necessary. At launch, they’ll have versions for the 2024 Land Cruiser, 2024 Lexus GX550, 2010-2024 4Runner, and 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma. More to come in the future.
The front wind deflector is a structural element of the rack and sits above the vehicle so there’s no rubbing on the paint.
The rack comes with up to seven Reconn Deck Bars (depending on model), which have up to 330lb (150kg) dynamic load rating and up to 826lb (375kg) static load rating.
The Deck Bars have a broad platform for stable accessory mounting. T-Track compatible slots are on all four edges, giving you lots of mounting flexibility.
Their Zwifloc accessories use this proprietary quick-mount design that keeps the base stationary while the “T” section spins around just enough to lock it into place. If you’ve every fiddled with a T-nut trying to get it to lock into place while tightening it down, you’ll appreciate how easy this makes it.

MaxTrax Lite traction boards
Sister brand MaxxTrax was showing off their new smaller, lighter MaxTrax Lite traction board.
Compared to the MK2, it’s 22% shorter (35.25″ vs 45″) and 48% lighter (4lbs vs 7.5lbs). But it has the same aggressive tooth profile (66 vs 88 teeth) and shovel ends of the originals.
They’re also more affordable they retail for $159.99 (pair), about $100 less than the MK2. Available in black only for now, orange is coming later.
Meant for wagons, SUVs and CUVs, or just for lighter duty use, they use a different polymer, and won’t flex quite as much because they’re shorter. MaxTrax says they’re great for keeping in any car for snow, sand, mud, etc…think of them like you would a spare tire, just a good thing to have and cheaper than a tow truck when you’re just a little stuck.
