Rough Country has lots of things for lots of vehicles, and now you can add powered step running boards, plastic bumper trim, and a basic roof rack, to that list.
And, they’re developing parts for the new Toyota Land Cruiser LC250 now, too, which is the first Land Cruiser they’ve ever developed products for…and they say it’s opened the door to potential development for some of the GX series vehicles. Fingers crossed.
In the meantime, here’s what’s new…
Shown in the top photo, their upcoming rooftop tent has a full T-slot surround on top and bottom halves, letting you mount cross bars and other accessories to it.
The tent is sitting on their new modular roof platform rack, which has a basic but clever design. The platform itself is universal, and they’ll offer mounting feet to fit a variety of popular vehicles, starting with the 4Runner, LC250, Sprinter, and Bronco (latest models for all).
What makes it interesting is that the cross bars are slimmer than the side bars, letting you mount them in “up” or “down” positions to create either a flat top surface or a slight basket, using the outer perimeter to help keep things contained and have your cargo sit just a bit lower.
The outside has a full-surround T-slot for mounting other gear, too.
They’re also adding an LC250 version of their automatically retracting powered running board steps, which will be available for several vehicles. If you don’t need the bash protection of a proper rock slider but still want improved ground clearance without giving up the step, this one tucks up and out of the way when the doors are closed.
Rough Country recently acquired a plastics manufacturer, and they’ll soon have OEM-looking, replaceable face plates that accommodate their hidden winch mounts, lights, etc.
This lets you keep a clean factory look while adding functionality, and if they get smashed, they’re cheaper and easier to replace than metal bumpers (and a lot lighter).
And, yes, that’s a new hidden winch mount for the LC250.
Land Cruiser LC250 3.0″ suspension kit
Unlike their current lift-and-level kits that use spacers, the 3.5″ suspension kit for the LC250 uses longer springs and struts in the front to increase ride height by 3.5″. Shown here are upcoming M1 struts, which are similar to the M1R, just without the “R” (external piggyback reservoir). Both are height adjustable.
The standard 3.5″ lift kit comes with upper control arms and all necessary shims, spacers, and bump stops, plus strut spacers for the front. If you’re going for the upgraded struts and shocks, you won’t need the strut spacers in the front.
Not shown here, the back end has their M1R shocks, which is an upgrade from the N3 shocks included with the base lift kit. It still uses the spring spacer for the factory coil giving it a 3.5″ lift back there, too, and includes sway bar and brake hose brackets, and a track bar bracket to keep everything in alignment.
