For those quick extra-vehicular scrambles and outdoorsy road trips, few things beat a good trail running shoe. And the new Salewa Pedroc 2 Max takes everything we loved about the original and just adds a bunch more cushioning.

We’ve worn the Pedroc through multiple trips around the world, tons of hiking and urban exploration, and they’ve held up incredibly well. The new Max version adds a few more millimeters of cushion, but also trims the rear exoskeleton to save 25g off the shoe’s weight.

That change makes it look sleeker, less like a “hiking” shoe, but it keeps the internal structure and features that make it perform off road, namely:

  • High breathable Mesh
  • Adaptive Protection
  • Pomoca Speed Hiker 2 outsole
  • 3f System® & internal exa-shell
  • Stability plate
  • Protective toe cap
  • 360* Tpu film
  • Outsole with speed / breaking lugs
  • Stability & Push-back plate
