Until recently, if you wanted a mobile Starlink satellite internet plan, you needed to have a home or business plan anchored to a location first, then add the mobile service and equipment.
Now, you can order the mobile hardware and choose from one of two plans for on-the-go use:
Mobile Regional – Works from anywhere on land, but only when parked or stationary. Good for RVers, camping, and vanlife where you’re only going to use it while you’re not driving. It’s $150/month and includes unlimited data, plus per-Gigabyte charges for in-motion use when moving faster than 10mph (16kph). There’s also a Mobile Global plan if you’re headed off of your plan’s home continent.
Mini Roam – Works from anywhere on land and while you’re moving, perfect for travelers who work (or surf) while someone else is driving. (16kph). It’s $50/month, but only includes 50GB/mo.
The Standard Kit (above) is the most affordable at $499, but isn’t a permanent roof-top vehicle mount option, so it’s best for those who will set it up once parked. And, it has a comparatively smaller range of view since you’re able to aim it and keep it stationary.
If you want to permanently mount it to your vehicle’s roof, the Flat High Performance antenna, which has a wider field of view and can handle higher speeds and works better in hotter and colder temps, too. The only downside? It’s $2,500.
“Anywhere” is somewhat misleading, since if I’m not mistaken, it won’t work in the middle of oceans or seas further than a certain distance from shire. But nevertheless amazing.
It clearly says “anywhere on land” not just “anywhere” it specifically excludes bodies of water and very visibly notes that with words.
