The Bug Wall keeps pests, wind & prying eyes out of your van

As a van owner, I’ve seen and used a lot of mesh screen options for keeping bugs out when leaving doors open, but The Bug Wall takes it a step further with their modular system.

They’re available for Mercedes Sprinters, Ford Transits, and RAM ProMaster, plus select Winnebago and Thor conversion vans with a 3/4-width rear door leading into the bathroom.

They tuck under the weather-stripping for a fixed installation, and give you the option of a zippered or magnetic door entry. They also let you put that pass-through slit positioned in the center or offset to the front or rear to accommodate your build.

Modular door options

In addition to full-coverage mesh bug screens, their zip-on/zip-off system lets you swap the sliding side door’s screen for their Chill Curtain, a clear window that blocks the wind without blocking the view. The entire door section zips in and out, which also lets you unzip the sides and roll it up for normal travel, keeping it out of the way without having to remove the whole system.

In the back, you can go full screen window if you want, or…

…their clever garage door hides any expensive bikes and other toys stowed under your bed. These are all made to order, so you measure your bed’s height and they’ll make it to give you maximum visibility from your bed, but cover everything underneath.

The Garage option also includes a clear window that rolls down to cover the mesh, perfect for not just blocking cold wind, but also rain when you open your rear doors, so your bed doesn’t get wet. Or, use it for a little extra privacy when showering or changing behind the van.

Inside, privacy shades roll down when you want it darker for sleeping or to prevent outsiders seeing inside the van while your lights are on.

The sliding side door Bug Walls run $349, Chill Walls are $389-$399, and the Garage Door v2 runs $599. Everything’s made in the USA and usually ships within a few days.

I'm a serial traveller who's crisscrossed the US more times than I can count. Current rigs are a '19 Vandoit Ford Transit camper van and an '05 GX470, both fully outfitted for off-road adventures, plus a healthy fleet of gravel bikes & MTBs. On two wheels or four, I love exploring the world from the backroads.
