Yakima’s upping their overland game again with a new internal drawer storage system, heavy duty mounting rails for roof platforms, and a ramped hitch rack for e-bikes. These work with their existing roof platforms, tents, and hitch-mounted storage options to give you more flexibility when outfitting your rig.
Yakima MOD System storage drawers
Designed to fit inside a wide range of SUVs, wagons, and vans, the MOD System combines stackable drawers with covered totes and bins. The drawers come in full width and half width and use tie-downs to secure them inside the car.
The full-width HomeBase platform comes in three sizes:
- Medium: 36″ x 24″ x 7″
- Large: 36″ x 27″ x 7″
- XL: 45″ x 37″ x 7″
Drawers have a 100lb load rating, and it has a 250lb top surface load rating.
The half-width Topper drawers come in M, L and XL as well, to fit two side by side directly on top of the HomeBase. Then stack GearTotes or GearCrates on top. They’ll also have a Fridge Slide and WorkSpace accessories that replace drawers with more ways to customize your setup.
The Yakima MOD System drawers start at $600, available starting early March. Compatible with their SKS Lock Cores for added security, sold separately.
Yakima RuggedLine HD mounting system
The new Yakima RuggedLine HD mounting system is a stronger support for their LockNLoad roof rack platform. The rails mount directly to the vehicle, with versions for the Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, RAV4, RAM, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. There’s also a version for Jeep Wrangler 4-door hardtops, too.
The rails are powder-coated stainless steel, tested and rated for up to 330lb dynamic off-road load carrying (load rating varies by vehicle). A metal fairing up front cuts wind noise. It requires removal of any factory roof rails. MSRP $449 to $679.
Not shown, they’ll also have new OverHaul MOLLE Panels to fit their truck-bed rack system, coming in March.
Yakima OnRamp LX e-bike hitch bike rack
The new OnRamp LX bike rack gets longer wheel trays to securely hold e-cargo bikes with up to 54″ wheelbases. It uses a center frame hook, which works better for bikes with fenders or cargo frames that cover the rear wheel. A detachable ramp makes it easy to load these bigger, heavier bikes.
It’s rated for two bikes up to 80lbs each for road and RV use, and up to 48lbs per bike for off-road use. Comes out in early Q2 2024.
